Russian Troops Said To Attempt Coast Guard Takeover

Amid the uncertainty, about 300 gunmen wearing Russian special forces uniforms attempted to take over the Sevastopol unit of the Ukrainian Coast Guard, a senior official with the Ukrainian Border Service said Saturday.
The gunmen were positioned outside the Ukrainian Coast Guard building, with local residents standing between the two groups, said Col. Sergii Astakhov, assistant to the chief of the Ukrainian Border Service.
The residents were reportedly trying to negotiate and asking the gunmen not to attack, Astakhov said.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Coast Guard had moved its ships to a position away from the coast where they were approached by three motorboats and a cruiser from the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Astakhov said.
The Russian upper house vote came on the day that the newly installed, pro-Russian leader of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, asked Putin for help in maintaining peace on the Black Sea peninsula -- where Russia's fleet is based at Sevastopol.
Security forces "are unable to efficiently control the situation in the republic," he said in comments broadcast on Russian state channel Russia 24. Aksyonov was installed as the region's premier after armed men took over the Crimean Parliament building on Thursday.
Aksyonov said Saturday that a referendum on greater Crimean autonomy, originally set for May 25, would be moved to March 30.
Ukrainian government officials suspect Moscow of fomenting separatist tensions in the autonomous region -- and they accused Russia of having already sent troops into its territory.

Yatsenyuk: Russian actions are provocation
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, speaking Saturday at a Cabinet meeting, called the Russian presence in Crimea "nothing but a provocation."
But, he said, it failed.
"Ukraine will not be provoked, we will not use force, we demand that the government of the Russian Federation immediately withdraw its troops and return to their home bases," he said.
Acting President Turchynov insisted Friday that Ukraine would defend its sovereignty and that "any attempts of intrusion or annexation will have very serious consequences."

Airspace reopened
Ukraine on Friday accused Russian Black Sea forces of trying to seize two airports in Crimea but said Ukrainian security forces had prevented them from taking control.
Groups of armed men, dressed in uniforms without identifying insignia, patrolled the airports in the regional capital, Simferopol, and the nearby port city of Sevastopol.
The armed men remained at the airports Saturday and Yevgey Plaksin, director of the airport in the regional capital, Simferopol, said Crimean airspace would remain closed until evening.
But by 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the airspace had reopened, and airport services were working, Plaksin said.
Unidentified, balaclava-clad armed men took up positions outside the Crimean Parliament building on Saturday, as a small pro-Russian demonstration was held, and controlled who could enter. A roadblock was also reported on the route into the city.
Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaliy Churkin, said Friday that the reports of Russian troops taking charge of positions on the ground were rumors and noted that rumors "are always not true."
"We are acting within the framework of our agreement," he said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that maneuvers of armored vehicles from the Russian Black Sea fleet in Crimea were needed for security and were in line with bilateral agreements.
Russia has been conducting a military exercise near its border with Ukraine -- snap drills that Moscow announced Wednesday.

Russian upper house approves use of military force in Ukraine

Russia's upper house of Parliament voted unanimously Saturday to approve sending Russian military forces into Ukraine, amid mounting tensions in the country's Crimea region and in defiance of warnings from Western powers.

The vote followed a request from President Vladimir Putin for approval to send troops into Crimea to normalize the political situation there.
Putin cited the "extraordinary situation in Ukraine" in making his request, adding that the lives of Russian citizens and military personnel based in the southern Crimea region had been threatened.
Ukraine's new government condemned the move.

"We perceive Russia's actions as direct aggression towards the sovereignty of Ukraine," said acting President Oleksandr Turchynov on the Twitter account of his Fatherland party.

The fledgling government in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, is seeking to prevent tensions in Crimea, which has a majority-Russian population, from escalating into a full-blown bid for separation.
Opposition leader Vitali Klitschko said Saturday in a posting on his party's website that he planned to ask Turchynov to call for Parliament to meet in emergency session to vote to invalidate the Black Sea Fleet Naval Base agreement.

TODAY'S GOOGLE DOODLE MAGICAL

In case you missed it because you're one of those crazy Bing people, the Google Doodle was particularly spectacular today, in light of recent world events.

In what appears to be a protest against Russian President Vladimir Putin and his rather shitty stance on gays, Google quotes the Olympic Charter and offers up a logo in rainbow pride colors. Via the Miami Herald:
This very pointed gesture comes after months of frustration and anger with the International Olympic Committee and Olympic corporate sponsors for their apparent willingness to turn a blind eye on LGBT Russians and the discrimination and violence they face every day.
In response to the news, HRC President Chad Griffin issued the following statement:
"Google has once again proven itself to be a true corporate leader for equality," said Griffin. "Alongside Olympic sponsors like AT&T, Google has made a clear and unequivocal statement that Russia's anti-LGBT discrimination is indefensible. Now it's time for each and every remaining Olympic sponsor to follow their lead. The clock is ticking, and the world is watching."

The quote from the Olympic Charter on the Google home page reads "The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."

Well played, Google.

WELL GOOGLE IS ASKING KIDS TO SEND DOODLE TO GOOGLE. IT'S VERY MUCH KINDNESS OF GOOGLE THAT IT GIVING OPPURTUNITIES TO KIDS. SOME DOODLE CREATED:

20 APPLIED USES FOR COKE.....PROOFS THAT IT HAS NO PLACE IN THE HUMAN BODY

Coca Cola is the most recognized trademark in the world, and  it is the world’s second-most famous word after “Hi.” However, the drink itself is a real poison to the human metabolism. The level of acidity of coke is almost the same  as the acidity level of battery acid. In addition to that Coke can clean dirty surfaces almost the same to and often much more better than the most used toxic household cleaners.

Clean water is more expensive than a bottle of Coca Cola in many countries. Coke has done a lot of efforts in advertising to get people consumer blindly this beverage that is very destructive for our body.
Those who  consume sodas such as Coca Cola have a 48% increase in heart attack and stroke risk, compared to people who do not drink the sodas at all or did not drink them every day. A study published in the journal Respirology reveals that soft drink consumption is also associated with lung and breathing disorders including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The carbonation in Coke causes calcium loss in the bones through a 3-stage process:
  1. The carbonation irritates the stomach.
  2. The stomach “cures” the irritation the only way it knows how. It adds the only antacid at its disposal: calcium. It gets this from the blood.
  3. The blood, now low on calcium, replenishes its supply from the bones. If it did not do this, muscular and brain function would be severely impaired.
But, the story doesn’t end there. Another problem with most Coke is it also contain phosphoric acid (not the same as the carbonation, which is carbon dioxide mixed with the water). Phosphoric acid also causes a draw-down on the body’s store of calcium.
So Coke softens your bones (actually, makes them weak and brittle) in 3 ways:
  1. Carbonation reduces the calcium in the bones.
  2. Phosphoric acid reduces the calcium in the bones.
  3. The beverage replaces a calcium-containing alternative, such as milk or water. Milk and water are not excellent calcium sources, but they are sources.
Esophageal cancer was very rare two generations ago — now, it’s common. The basic mechanism works as follows:
  1. Mechanical damage to cells is a huge risk factor for cancer. It’s why asbestos particles, for example, cause lung cancer.
  2. All soft drinks cause acid reflux (stomach acid rising up past the esophageal valve). This is more pronounced when the body is horizontal (as in sleeping), but the sheer volume of Coke and soft drinks consumed in the USA means the acid reflux is well past the danger point. Any time you ingest a gassy drink, you are going to get belching–and acid into the esophagus. How much is too much? The research doesn’t say where the limit is–it only shows that most of us are far, far, far past it.
  3. tomach acid dissolves tissue — that’s its purpose. The stomach lining does not extend into the esophagus, so the lower esophagus gets damaged by acid far more frequently in soft drink users than in non soft drink users. This results in a radical increase in cell mutations, along with a far higher level of free radicals.

20 Practical Uses For Coke

Coke acts as an acidic cleaner. The amount of acid in soda is enough to wear away at the enamel of your teeth, making them more susceptible to decay. In tests done on the acidity levels of soda, certain ones were found to have PH levels as low as 2.5. To put that into perspective, consider that battery acid has a pH of 1 and pure water has a pH of 7.
To prove Coke does not belong in the human body, here are 20 practical ways you can use Coke as a domestic cleaner:
  1. Removes grease stains from clothing and fabric
  2. Removes rust; methods include using fabric dipped in Coke, a sponge or even aluminum foil. Also loosens rusty bolts
  3. Removes blood stains from clothing and fabric.
  4. Cleans oil stains from a garage floor; let the stain soak, hose off.
  5. Kills slugs and snails; the acids kills them.
  6. Cleans burnt pans; let the pan soak in the Coke, then rinse.
  7. Descales a kettle (same method as with burnt pans)
  8. Cleans car battery terminals by pouring a small amount of Coke over each one.
  9. Cleans your engine; Coke distributors have been using this technique for decades.
  10. Makes pennies shine; soaking old pennies in Coke will remove the tarnish.
  11. Cleans tile grout; pour onto kitchen floor, leave for a few minutes, wipe up.
  12. Dissolves a tooth; Use a sealed container…takes a while but it does work.
  13. Removes gum from hair; dip into a small bowl of Coke, leave a few minutes. Gum will wipe off.
  14. Removes stains from vitreous china.
  15. Got a dirty pool? Adding two 2-liter bottles of Coke clears up rust.
  16. You can remove (or fade) dye from hair by pouring diet Coke over it.
  17. Remove marker stains from carpet. Applying Coke, scrubbing and then clean with soapy water will remove marker stains.
  18. Cleans a toilet; pour around bowl, leave for a while, flush clean.
  19. Coke and aluminum foil will bring Chrome to a high shine.
  20. Strips paint off metal furniture. Soak a towel in Coke and lay it on the paint surface.
Now can you imagine what is does to your stomach lining?
Who needs the ‘household and cleaning’ section at the hardware store when we have Coke.

TOP GOAL SCORERS IN FOOTBALL  HISTORY

1) JOSEF BICAN (1913-2001) GOALS:805

He may not be as famous as the likes of Romario, Pele, Muller and Eusebio, but Josef Bican is recognized as the most prolific goal-scorer in official matches for club and country. He was of Czech-Austrian Nationality, representing both Austria and Czechoslovakia .His career spanned between 1928 and 1955, and his most prolific spell was at Slavia Prague where he scored a sensational 395 goals in just 217 games. It is important to note that his career occurred throughout the war, where many footballers were recruited as soldiers, and so there was not much competition for him. Even at the end of his career, aged 42, he was able to score 22 times in 29 games.

2) ROMARIO (1966-) GOALS: 772

Pele may have more goals for the Brazilian National team, but fellow Brazilian legend Romario has more official goals overall for club and country. Romario led Brazil to victory in the 1994 World Cup, and also the 1989 and 1997 Copa Americas. Unlike Pele, he represented a number of clubs throughout his career, and excelled in Europe during his time at PSV and Barcelona between 1988 and 1995. He was named FIFA World Player of The Year in 1994 and picked up numerous club and individual honors throughout his illustrious career, one that lasted until he reached age 43.

3) PELE (1940-) GOAL:767

Pele is regarded by many people within and outside of football as the greatest player of all time, scoring for fun throughout his career. In 1999 he was voted as World Player of the Century, and the list of his individual accolades is endless. He spent 2 years at the end of his career with New York Cosmos, but he was a one-club man with Santos for the majority of his playing time. He was declared a ‘national treasure’ by the Brazilian Government, winning 3 World Cups after beginning his international career at the age of just 16.

4) FERENC PUSKAS (1927-2006) GOALS; 746

Puskás was part of the Hungary generation of players that were victorious in the 1952 Olympics and runners up in the 1954 World Cup. His career spanned a long 23 years, where he represented Budapest Honvéd and Real Madrid, scoring prolifically for both. He won numerous Hungarian League titles with Budapest Honvéd, before picking up 5 La Liga titles and 3 European Cups with Real Madrid. The FIFA Puskás Award was made in honor of Puskas, and awarded to a player judged to have scored the most aesthetically significant and "most beautiful" goal of the year.

5) GERD MULLER (1945-) GOALS: 735
Gerd Muller is a very popular name in the history of football, and he is yet another player to spend the majority of his career at one club (Bayern Munich). His modest speed and lack of height was irrelevant as his incredible positioning and finishing was second-to-none. He enjoyed much success with Bayern Munich, having won 4 League titles, 4 German Cups, and 4 League Cups. He was also instrumental in West Germany winning Euro 1972 and the 1974 World Cup. Muller also held the record for most goals scored in a calendar year, managing a huge 85 goals in 1972, until Lionel Messi overtook this in 2012.

6) FERENC DEAK (1922-1998) GOALS: 576

Ferenc Deak is an unfamiliar name to most people, and this is because his career took place in times of World War, when numerous official tournaments are impossible to stage. Deak was of Hungarian nationality, representing Szentlorinci, Ferencvaros, and Budapesti Dzosa in his home country. He was only able to represent the Hungary national team between 1944 and 1949, where he still managed 29 goals in 20 games. The instability and damage caused by World War II meant that Deak had to cut short his international career. He still managed 576 career goals.

7) UWE SEELER (1936-) GOALS : 575

Another German forward who enlisted himself as one of the most lethal goal-scorers in the history of the game is Uwe Seeler. Another legendary figure that spent an entire career with one team, he represented Hamburg between 1953 and 1972. He also had 43 goals in 72 appearances for the West Germany national team. He was only able to win one League title and League Cup with Hamburg, but was rewarded the German Footballer of the Year award in 1960, 1964 and 1970. He is regarded as one of the greatest players in German football history.

8) ERNST WILLIMOWSKI (1916-1997) GOALS: 554

Ernst Willimowski was a forward who played for both the Polish and German national teams between 1934 and 1942. His parents were German, but after his father died in the First World-War his mother married a Polish man. He was one of the best goal-scorers in the history of the Polish national team, and in Polish club football before he decided to re-take German citizenship and play for Germany. He is remembered as the first player to score 4 goals in World Cup game, doing so against Brazil in 1938.

9) EUSEBIO (1942-2014) GOALS: 552

Eusebio is a much more familiar name, and he is considered as one of the very greatest footballers of all time. He represented Benfica for 15 out of the 22 years (1957-1979) that he was a professional footballer, achieving legendary status at the club in the process. Nicknamed the ‘Black Panther’, he won a number of club and individual accolades in a magnificent career, and was the first ever player to win the European Golden Boot. He sadly passed away on January 5th 2014 and received tributes from all over the world.

10) JAMES McGRORY (1904-1982) GOALS: 550
James McGrory was a Scottish striker who spent the majority of his career with Celtic (1922-1937), bar a loan stint at Clydebank in between. He holds the title of being the all-time leading goal-scorer in top-flight British football: 408 in Scottish league, 77 in Scottish Cup, 53 in other cup tournaments, 6 for Scotland, and 6 for the Scottish League XI. He was at Celtic for 15 years and is a legendary figure in the club’s history. He was only 5 ft 6 but earned a reputation for his fantastic heading ability. He sadly passed away in 1982, aged 78.
